My approach to wedding photography

For the vast majority of the wedding day, I work as a candid and documentary photographer. This basically means that I capture your day as it happens naturally. I always remember that this is your day, not mine! My aim is for you to forget that I am there and concentrate on having the best time ever.

In fact, apart from the group photos portion of the day, and some creative couples portraits, nothing is staged or forced. Most couples that approach me, usually want to enjoy their day to the max, without thinking about posing for photos.

I believe that capturing the real and genuine moments, your photos will not only remind you of how the day looked, but more importantly, how it felt.

Genuine emotion

For me, photographs have real value, and become more important as time goes on. I also believe that they have a much bigger impact if they are genuine and true to the real moment. I always try to capture you and your family and friends as they are, with all the little moments in between.

My ultimate goal is to provide you with a gallery full of photographs which you will not only love when you see them, but which become absolutely invaluable in the future. This is why I believe in capturing real, non-posed emotions.

Creative couple’s portraits

The short amount of time we usually have during the wedding for couple’s portraits is a nice chance for us to create some really beautiful photographs of you both and a chance for me to get creative and produce images you will love.

This is also a great time to unwind a bit and spend some time together, away from your family and friends for a few minutes. From experience, many couples I speak to can be quite nervous about having their photos taken. Rest assured that you are not alone and this is completely normal. I would be the same believe me! When you see that there is literally nothing to worry about, you can really enjoy this time and this comes across in the photos as well.

Also rest assured that while I might be giving you some directions to get the best out of the image, I will not be staging or posing you.

Silhouettes

A while ago, I started experimenting with silhouettes, and ever since I started posting them online, I frequently get requests from couples to photograph one for them. It’s something fun, and a little different.

These can be taken either during the pre-wedding, or on the wedding day itself (or both!). This only takes a few minutes to achieve and I absolutely love the result. After taking the picture, I always enjoy showing the back of my camera to the couple to see their expression. If this is something that interests you, let me know, I would love to capture it at your wedding!

Time to party!

Finally! It’s time to let loose and dance the night away. For the last couple of hours during dancing, I like to be in the middle of the dance floor and capture all the action up close. This gives the viewer of the photo the feeling that they are there on the dance floor too. I just love the facial expressions and emotions I am able to capture during these last few moments of the wedding.
